Government launches on August 5 program to distribute gas cylinders, says minister
(Reuters) – The government of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva should launch on August 5 new gas program for all, which provides for delivery of cylinders to about 17 million families by December 2027, said Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira.
Speaking this Thursday at an event in Minas Gerais, in the presence of Lula, the minister stressed that the program is “fundamental” to help in public health and combat energy poverty.
“The new social program is fundamental to the fight against energy poverty and preservation of the public health of women and children, which many, and we know that, still cook inappropriately,” he said.
