While government prepares MP of cuts, resistance to the package increases in Congress

The Minister of Finance, Fernando HaddadHe again criticized former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), blaming his management for imbalances in public accounts. In a post made this Saturday (14), on social network X (former Twitter), he said that the economic team of the Lula government is fixing the damage left by the previous administration.

“Defaults on governors, default on precatory, sold a public company at a banana price and while raffling Brazil tried to scam in democracy,” Haddad wrote in his personal account. Then he stressed that he was “tidying up Bolsonaro’s mess”.

We are packing your mess, Bolsonaro. Who is exempting the income tax worker is us. Who charges tax from…

The publication reinforces the argument used this week, during a public hearing in the House of Representatives. At the time, Haddad faced criticism from deputies Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) and Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ), both allies of the former president.

The parliamentarians questioned the current fiscal deficit and the rise in cost of living, calling the minister “incompetent”. In response, Haddad stated that the two “needed to learn about Brazilian public accounts.”

Among the arguments presented during the public hearing, the minister cited the delay in paying $ 92 billion in precatory, debt that, according to him, was inherited from the previous management and is being regularized by the Lula government.

It also highlighted the compensation of R $ 30 billion made to states in March 2023, referring to the reduction of ICMS on fuel in 2022, a measure approved in Bolsonaro management with promise of reimbursement that was not fulfilled at the time.

Another point addressed by Haddad was the privatization of Eletrobras. For him, the operation compromised one of the most strategic state -owned companies in the country.
