Haddad defends task force to define points in negotiation with USA on tariff

BRASILIA (Reuters)-Finance Minister Fernando Haddad defended in an interview with the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo that the government makes a task force to find the “points they are catching” in the tariff negotiation between Brazil and the United States so that the theme is resolved as soon as possible.

In the interview, Haddad said that “the worst that can happen” is that the country opens two separate fronts of negotiation, arguing that it makes no sense that dealings are made by governors.

Announced by President Donald Trump’s government, the 50% tariff on Brazilian imports by the United States is scheduled to take effect in August.
