Haddad denies having spoken to Lula about elections at dinner at Alvorada
The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, denied having spoken to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva about the electoral scenario at a dinner held on Thursday night, the 26th, at Palácio da Alvorada. Haddad and Lula were accompanied by their wives, Ana Estela and Janja, respectively.
At the end of the dinner, Lula reportedly said that he will call Haddad and vice-president Geraldo Alckmin next week to talk about São Paulo. “So, what is being announced didn’t happen, it will happen,” said Haddad in an interview with Flow News this Friday, 27th.

The head of the Treasury said that, before accompanying the president on an international trip to India and Korea, he had two long conversations with Lula in which he reviewed the partnership of the last 30 years. “We caught up on a lot of things, I think we needed that”, reported Haddad.
In recent days, pressure has increased for Haddad to run for Palácio dos Bandeirantes, which is seen as essential for Lula to obtain votes in the largest electoral college in the country. Government members are already openly saying that the Minister of Finance needs to run for a position in São Paulo to help in the dispute for re-election. The desire expressed by the minister is to act in coordinating Lula’s campaign.
The minister also said that he still has a definition from Lula about the date on which the PT member will travel to the United States to meet the President of the United States, Donald Trump, when Haddad will be able to accompany the president.
