Haddad expects “quick solution” for iOF and criticize supersed

Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said on Tuesday he believes in a quick solution to the divergence between the federal government and the National Congress on the Financial Operations Tax (IOF) and criticized supersalaries within the executive.

“This is all being reviewed because it has to reach all the powers of the Republic. Supersalário is not just for the judiciary,” he said in an interview with journalists at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance in Brasilia.

Earlier, a conciliation hearing promoted by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) between the government and the Congress on the IOF ended without agreement, with both sides pointing out that they prefer to wait for a court decision, according to the term signed by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case.
