Haddad: relationship with the market is “very difficult” and 2026 will be a “war of narratives”

The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said that the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, inherited “hell” in the public accounts of former President Jair Bolsonaro. He also stated that the relationship with the financial market is “very difficult” because “the indicators (of the economy) are not recognized”.

Haddad also declared that 2026 will be an equally “very difficult” year because of the electoral dispute and what he called the “communication war”. The speech took place during the ministerial meeting with Lula at Granja do Torto this Wednesday (17). Haddad was one of the ministers to give an opening speech at the meeting.

“It is not easy to maintain, under Brazilian conditions, especially in the relationship with the financial market, a very difficult relationship, because the indicators are not recognized, it is as if Lula had inherited a paradise and was having problems with his accounts, but no, he inherited hell, after seven years of the right and extreme right”, stated the minister.

Then, after complaining about the relationship with the financial market, he continued his reasoning by praising President Lula: “Maintaining growth, employment, inflation low and in an artificially constructed tension in politics and the economy is not for everyone”.

Haddad said there are “many challenges ahead.” “It’s going to be a very difficult year, as everyone knows, especially the war of communication, of narratives. It will continue to be hell in the lives of all of us. It’s a challenge to deal with these social networks, with (what is) the truth”, declared the minister.

“Nothing can express our challenge more than the slogan ‘Next year will be the year of truth’. If we transform next year into the year of truth, we will have four more years of work under President Lula’s Presidency”, added Haddad.
