Hamas promotes deaths and accuses clans of being allies of Israel
Extremist group accused the victims of being from a clan that collaborates with Israel. According to the RFI news agency, the dead were members of rival clans and militias, all from traditional Gaza families, who “remain heavily armed.”
Palestinian Authority stated that the acts are “heinous crimes”, committed “outside the framework of the law and without fair trial”. A note signed by the president Mahmoud Abbas condemned the executions.
There is currently no official death toll. According to the Israeli portal Ynet, at least 52 people from a single clan, the Dagmoush, died. The Palestinian Authority cited “dozens” of victims.
Palestinian Authority also says Hamas is trying to control the Gaza Strip, “obstructing reconstruction.” “Restoring the rule of law and legitimate institutions is the only way to end the state of chaos,” says the note.
Israel claims that there is no vacuum in the Gaza Strip and that Hamas has returned to being the local authority. The extremist group would have taken over what remained of the territory’s largest cities. This is because, according to what was determined by the agreement, the Israeli military left these points, retreating to the so-called “Yellow Line”, drawn up in the agreement with the USA.
