‘He went for walking and tide went up,’ says the father of a dead Brazilian in Argentina
When he was far away, the tide went up, and there was no way to walk. Police and firefighters think he tried to swim, but the waves were strong and he couldn’t … They have this suspicion because this is not the first time that has happened in that place.
João Aparecido Rodrigues, father of Rafael
The father received the news by the Delegate of Bebedouro, where he lives in the interior of SP. “I was in the service. He called me giving the news and saying that the consulate was going to talk to me,” he recalls. “Since I couldn’t afford to hear and record the procedures, the consulate girl called the City Council, which provided a social worker who started to intermediate everything.”
My wife and I were very shaken, but thank God we are well, trying to deal with the loss.
João Aparecido Rodrigues
Rodrigues says that his son began traveling after the covid-19 pandemic. “He had a normal life in Brazil before the pandemic. When she was over, he remained working at home office,” says his father. “As he could work from anywhere, he started traveling. He went to Paraná, Santa Catarina, always close to the beach, which he liked.”
At the turn of the year, he decided to work from Argentina. “Still there, he turned off the company, but as he started with another remote job, he said he was going to stay for a while before returning to Brazil,” says Rodrigues. In addition to work at a software support company, he paid stay by devoting a few hours a day working to the hostel.
