Hezbollah confirms death of main spokesman in Israeli attack
Hezbollah’s head of press relations was killed in an Israeli attack in Ras al-Nabaa, in the center of Beirut, Lebanon, this Sunday (17), increasing tensions in the region.
What happened
The attack took place in Ras al-Nabaa, in the central area of the Lebanese capital, close to Christian sites. This is considered unusual for Israeli operations, which are usually carried out in the southern suburbs, according to Al Jazeera.
Mohammad Afif was a key figure in Hezbollah, responsible for its strategic communications. He was known for coordinating the group’s media, as well as being an advisor to Hassan Nasrallah, the group’s late general secretary. Al Jazeera highlighted that Afif was essential for disseminating Hezbollah messages, as well as organizing visits by journalists.
