Hugo Motta and leaders still work to close agreement in relation to the IR vote

Chamber approves the urgency of the project that expands IR exemption to up to R $ 5,000

One of the most important votes for the government should take place on Wednesday night (1): that of project 1.087/2025, income tax exemption for those who earn up to $ 5,000. Even so, in the early afternoon, the camera was empty. This is because negotiations often happen outside the congress, and parliamentarians only return when they can close an agreement that allows the project to vote.

So far, representatives of various parties admit that they should only decide on supporting the bill after a meeting of leaders convened by the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans), to discuss the bill, expected to start at 5 pm.

Even base parties, such as the PSB, will only position themselves after the meeting of leaders. The project has greater support with regard to exemption. But there is a large division in the countertops in relation to the taxation for dividends over R $ 50 thousand, including profits sent abroad. These should be the points that will generate more debates in the voting of the matter.

The project is reported by Arthur Lira (PP-AL) and has received more than 80 amendments. In addition, there is the other project on the same subject-PL 1.952/2019, by Senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL)-approved in the Senate that could or could not be attached to the Lira project. The dispute between the two is not only through the report of the project, but also by state disputes in Alagoas.

Voting is also important for the president of the house, Hugo Motta, besides the government itself. After the wear and tear of amnesty, Motta decided to prioritize this week more popular projects such as the Public Security package and guaranteed the vote on the exemption of IR, a measure considered of strong popular appeal.

Parliamentarians evaluate that Motta seeks to consolidate themselves as responsible for the delivery of impacts to counteract the leadership of Senate President David Alcolumbre. The vote of the Armage PEC scratched the image of the House and would have deepened the distance between the president of the two houses.
