Hugo Motta says leaders rejected anesty to guide amnesty after obstruction of the opposition
The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), said on Thursday (7) that most party leaders decided not to guide the Amnesty Bill to those involved in acts of January 8, 2023.
According to him, the decision was made during a meeting held on Wednesday night (6), which brought together bench leaders who together represent more than 400 of the 513 deputies.
“There are no negotiations on guidelines with obstruction, only after the normality of the work. I have no prejudice with any agenda, but if in a new meeting there is a majority to guide the amnesty, the president will respect the wishes of the majority,” Motta told the Metropolis.

Governs call for suspension of 5 Bolsonarist deputies for occupation in the House
The request is for the summary suspension of the mandate of the deputies, cautiously, for six months
After the meeting, PL leader in the House, Sostenes Cavalcante (PL-RJ), initially said that there was an agreement to take the text to the Board of Directors. In a later speech, however, he said it was not “correct in the private” with Motta and denied that there is a closed agreement for voting.
The amnesty proposal is one of the three main demands of the opposition, along with the end of the privileged forum and the impeachment of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Court (STF).
Wave of obstructions
On Tuesday (5), opposition parliamentarians occupied the plenary of the House and Senate, preventing the progress of the sessions. The act was motivated by the household arrest decree of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), signed by Alexandre de Moraes.
During the protest, Senator Magno Malta (PL-ES) even chased the Senate Board. The opposition states that it will only release the work if there is a favorable dialogue with the presidents of the two houses, Hugo Motta and David Alcolumbre (Union-AP).
