‘I thought I had turned food’: man reports seconds of panic with whale
Adrián admitted that his first reaction was confusion, as in total the “attack” lasted about three seconds. Still, when taken underwater, he thought he would not survive.
“I felt a desperation mixed with the feeling that I had no more what I could do because I couldn’t fight a giant animal, but then came the relief because it was not worse,” he told the Chilean newspaper DNews.
In the first second underwater I thought I had already lost my life. (…) But it is exciting, I survived the icy waters, a small wreck and being inside a whale, is a story of motivation.
Adrián Simancas to the Mexican broadcaster Televisa
The young man – who has lived for seven years in Chile – detailed that he felt the approach of the whale as a “whirlpool”.
“It was similar to when you are struck by a wave, but much stronger. I felt that something dark blue and white was around me and sank me. I didn’t understand what was going on, I thought it had been eaten by an orca or Something like that, but, well, it was a jubart whale, “he told DNews.
Remembering the reaction shortly after the attack, Adrián stated that his biggest fear was that the whale also attacked his 49 -year -old father, who had been in a kayak a few meters.
