‘In a few days we will have a definitive solution between the USA and Brazil’

According to Lula, Trump committed to making a quality agreement with Brazil. The PT member said he made a point of leaving Trump in no doubt about who he is, where he came from and what he thinks. “Only when we know each other can we start to respect people or not,” he added.

Although he (Trump) didn’t make a promise, he guaranteed that we will have an agreement. I think it goes faster than a lot of people think. And it will depend on Brazil too. We are not a baby who has to wait for someone to call us. We are interested and we have to go after it (the USA).

Nobody likes bootlickers. No one likes to be sucked up to, vassalized, that kind of bullshit. We have to be who we really are. I think that’s what painted the picture between me and President Trump. I hope this chemistry bears fruit for the Brazilian people and the American people.

The expectation is that the PT member will participate in a meeting next week in Washington. “He (Trump) told me that he wants to come to Brazil. I told him that I am available to go to New York and Washington,” Lula added.

Still during a meeting in Malaysia, a Brazilian said he had given Trump a document with topics he intends to address in the negotiations. Among them, the application of the Law Magnitsky to STF (Supreme Federal Court) minister Alexandre de Moraes, and the intensification of tensions between the USA and Venezuela.

Lula also said that Brazil does not have a preference for countries, but does not want a conflict between the USA and China. He highlighted that China is Brazil’s largest trading partner and that he wants to maintain a “beautiful” relationship with both countries.
