In a new video, Nikolas Ferreira once again criticizes Pix monitoring

Federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) published a video on Tuesday (13) again criticizing the Pix inspection, implemented by the government last year to combat money laundering and fraud crimes.

In the publication, Nikolas recalls his January video about Pix — which went viral on social media, exceeding 120 million views in 24 hours — which forced the government to back down and revoke a regulation that implemented the supervision of transfers above R$5,000. The parliamentarian points out that, this time, the government issued a rule in August 2025 to resume the revoked monitoring.

“Now comes the part that they don’t want you to notice. On paper, it says it’s to combat organized crime, money laundering and fraud (…). But what they revoked in January, they brought back in August but hidden in another rule, with another name and another speech, it’s not imposed, it’s monitoring”, he highlights

The regulations cited by Nikolas require fintechs to follow the same transparency and monitoring rules already applied to traditional banks. The measure was adopted after investigations by the Federal Police showed that criminal organizations, such as the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), used digital platforms to launder money.

In the video, Nikolas states that workers such as “market sellers, manicurists, street vendors and freelancers” are at risk if they move more than R$5,000 per month via Pix and the amount is not compatible with that declared in Income Tax.

“The IRS will know, and you could fall through the cracks. Being called and having to explain and paying taxes that you never imagined paying”, he says. “And not because you are a criminal, but because the State started to look at your Pix as if it were suspicious money”, warns the parliamentarian.

Contrary to what the video suggests, the standard does not change the taxation rules or create a tax on Pix. The registration of bank transactions allows the Federal Revenue to cross-reference data and notify taxpayers who reach income ranges subject to payment of Personal Income Tax (IRPF).
