INSS CPI approves requirements that aim at Lula’s brother union
The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) approved in session on Thursday, 4, requests that aim at the entity that has José Ferreira da Silva, known as Frei Chico and brother of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, as vice president.
One of them, authored by Deputy Adriana Ventura (Novo-SP), requires information about people who, through power of attorney, acquired powers to act on behalf of the National Union of Retired, Pensioners and the Elderly of Força Sindical (Sindnapi), Frei Chico, between 2015 and 2023.
CPI members say this application can serve to find Digital of Lula’s brother in the fraudulent scheme of retirees’ associative discounts.
The other request, also authored by Ventura, asks the INSS to identify the bank account numbers informed by Sindnapi for the receipt of resources from the General Social Security Regime Fund between 2015 and 2025.
“There is strong evidence that, as in other trade unions of the same sector, Sindnapi has used technical cooperation agreements and agreements with the INSS to operationalize mass affiliations and raise values directly from retirement, without informed consent of most affiliates,” justifies the deputy.
The chairman of the commission, Senator Carlos Viana (Somos-MG), told the Estadão column That, if found any mention of Friar Chico in some investigation, he will be called to testify. “If his name is quoted in any investigation, in some breach of confidentiality, you can be sure we will call it,” he said.
The INSS CPI also approved requirements to discover movements by Antonio Carlos Camilo Antunes, the “Bald of the INSS”, appointed by the Federal Police (PF) as one of the main agents that made the scheme work.
The commission approved the request for information to PF on international trips in the last five years, seized cars, entry and exit from Brazil, entry and exit between 2019 and 2025 in the Federal Senate and the House of Representatives of the “Bald of the INSS”.
