INSS CPI rapporteur threatens to give the PF delegate a voice of arrest at a secret meeting

The hearing of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) had a crash between the rapporteur, Deputy Alfredo Gaspar (Union-AL), and Federal Police delegate Bruno Bergamaschi.

The confusion began about the possibility of Bergamaschi providing information that was safeguarded under confidentiality. Present at the meeting say there was a threat of prison voice – the parliamentarian denies.

The Federal Supreme Court (STF) Minister André Mendonça, rapporteur of the case concerning undue retirements in pensions in the Court, acted to establish consensus.

“As a rapporteur, I based my questions exclusively on unconfyment information and yet the delegate answered that he could not speak. I insisted, clarifying that the questions dealt with data already advertised,” said Gaspar.

The deputy continued to explain the interview. “He himself explained that he had received a higher determination not to speak, including already public information. That was the reason for discord. As a rapporteur, I only stressed that it is not up to the witness to silence the truth, except in the exceptions provided for by law. Which was not the case. So I did not accept silence as an answer,” he continued.

The president of CPMI, Senator Carlos Viana (Somos-MG) needed to act to appease the spirits, according to reports. After a Supreme Habeas Corpus who determined that the delegate should speak, except in situations that involved truly sensitive information, a consensus has come.

“After the STF’s decision, everything was resolved,” said Gaspar.

The meeting of INSS CPI members with Bergasmaschi lasted about four hours. The meeting was done secretly, at the request of the PF delegate.

The constant fear of the leaking meeting led to confusion between government and opposition members.

Shortly after the start of the secret meeting, federal deputies Marcel Van Hattem (Novo-RS) and Luiz Lima (Novo-RJ) ran to talk to the press by receiving mistaken information that Senate government leader Randolfe Rodrigues (PT-AP) would be leaked what happened at the meeting. They wanted to deny what Randolfe would have claimed and were surprised to know that the senator had said nothing.
