INSS President resigns after PF operation that investigates fraud of R $ 6.3 billion

The president of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), Alessandro Stefanutto, resigned on Wednesday (23) after being the target of a Federal Police operation that investigates an alleged R $ 6.3 billion fraud scheme involving improper discounts on pensions and pensions. The departure occurs hours after President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) determined his dismissal.

Stefanutto’s decision was communicated to allies. According to him, the focus will now be the defense itself. The former INSS president also said he was responsible for starting, last year, the internal investigation over discounts unauthorized for benefits paid to insured.
