Iranian and Omani foreign ministers discuss Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Omani counterpart Badr al-Busaidi spoke by phone on Monday to discuss developments in the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state media reported.

“Regardless of your opinion on Iran, this war was not created by them. It is already causing widespread economic problems and I fear that the situation will get much worse if the war continues,” al-Busaidi said in a post on X on Monday. “Oman is working intensively to implement security measures when crossing the Strait of Hormuz,” he added.

Oman had been playing a key mediation role between Iran and the US over Iran’s nuclear program before the attacks by US and Israeli forces on February 28.
