Iran’s attack on Israel has repercussions among international authorities
Russia assesses that the attack highlights the crisis in American foreign policy. In an official statement, the Kremlin stated that the situation in the Middle East highlights the “total failure” of United States policy.
European Union sees risk of attacks “getting out of control”. The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, stated that “the EU remains fully committed to contributing to avoiding a regional war”. For him, “the dangerous cycle of attacks and reprisals risks getting out of control. An immediate ceasefire across the region is necessary.”
English Prime Minister spoke with Netanyahu. Keir Starmer condemned the Iranian attack and called for a de-escalation of conflicts in the region. According to Sky News, Starmer called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the King of Jordan, Abdullah II.
Germany called on Iran to stop attacks. In a social media post, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock wrote: “I condemn the ongoing attack in the strongest possible terms. We strongly warn Iran against this dangerous escalation. Iran must immediately stop the attack. It is pushing the region further into the abyss.”
Meloni condemned the attack and called for an emergency meeting. The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, called an emergency meeting with the Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs, Guido Crosetto and Antonio Tajani, respectively, shortly after the start of Tehran’s offensives. “In condemning the Iranian attack on Israel, the Italian government expresses deep concern about ongoing developments and launches a call for responsibility from all regional actors, asking them to avoid further escalation,” they said.
Retaliation for killings of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders
Iran launched missiles into Israeli territory. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed that it fired dozens of missiles at Israel this Tuesday (1st) in response to the deaths of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders.
