Israel says it has attacked more than 100 targets; Hamas reports 88 deaths in 24 hours
Offensives also targeted sites used by Palestinian fighters. The targets had been used to fire projectiles at Israel in recent days, according to the Israeli Army.
The Israeli government announced that it would intensify the attacks. Last Wednesday (1st), Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened to expand the offensive into Palestinian territory if the Islamist group continued to fire rockets at Israel.
Hamas government counts at least 88 deaths in the last 24 hours. The announcement brings to 45,805 the total number of deaths in Gaza since the attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas against Israel, on October 7, 2023. Another 109,064 people were injured in the period.
Attacks occur even with indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel. Talks resumed in Qatar in an attempt to reach an agreement on a truce and the release of hostages held in Gaza. Efforts led by Qatar, Egypt and the US are trying to achieve a ceasefire in the region.
