Israeli army resumes bombing south of Beirut
Many residents of the southern suburbs of Beirut, one of the Hezbollah strongholds attacked several weeks ago by Israel, have fled the area, although some return during the day to inspect their homes and businesses.
Since September 23, the Israeli Army has carried out an intense bombing campaign in Lebanon, particularly against Hezbollah strongholds. A week later, Israeli troops began a ground offensive in the south of the country.
The objective of the campaign is to neutralize the pro-Iran organization to allow the return of residents who abandoned northern Israel due to rocket fire from Lebanon, which began in October 2023 in solidarity with the Palestinian movement Hamas, at war with the Hebrew state. in Gaza.
Lebanese authorities say that more than 3,360 people have died in the country due to the confrontation with Israel since October last year.
