It is possible to reconcile visions of the great producer and social movements, says Fontele

The governor of Piauí, Rafael Fonteles, understands that it is possible to reconcile social movements, such as the Landless Movement (MST), with legal certainty and the right of property in the state.

To this end, the state must be at the front line of the dialogue between the parties. “We have been doing a work to conciliate the view of social movements and agribusiness. It is a perfectly possible job to reconcile them with an active state, to mediate these conflicts and give legal certainty to the small producer and the great producer, ”Fonteles said in an interview with Rafael Furlaneti, XP institutional managing partner and Furlacast host.

Fonteles points to the high emission of titles in Piauí as a result of state government dialogue with large farmers and social movement. “In land regulation, we are the state that most issued titles, both in the rural and urban area, reducing conflicts in both the countryside and in the city.”

Piauí in Agribusiness

According to the governor, the state of Piauí is the fastest growing in terms of agricultural border.

The state has been consolidated as an agribusiness power. Piaui agricultural production jumped from R $ 2.6 billion in 2015 to almost R $ 13 billion in 2024.

Data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) show that the value of agricultural production in Piauí has ​​registered a growth of 384% in the last eight years.
