Itamaraty condemns bombings between Israel and Lebanon and asks for ceasefire
It was Tel Aviv’s first attack on the Lebanese capital since the beginning of the truce on November 27. According to Israel, bombing was a retaliation for the release of Lebanon rockets against its territory.
Itamaraty also condemned the “launch of rockets from Lebanon”. Hezbollah denied the attacks and said he was respecting the ceasefire. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam asked the army to hold the authors of rockets thrown towards Israel.
By expressing a strong concern for this recent escalation of violence and the systematic violations of the ceasefire, Brazil calls on the parties involved to exercise maximum containment and to fully comply with the terms of that agreement and the obligations provided for in Resolution 1701 of the Security Council, including the full withdrawal of the southern Israeli troops. France and UN also condemn Israeli attack
French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the Israeli attack is “unacceptable.” According to him, the bombing violates the ceasefire and the attacks “enter the Hezbollah game”.
Lebanon President Joseph Aoun is visiting Paris. Macron said he will talk about Israeli prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and US President Donald Trump. Already the Lebanese president condemned “any attempt to involve Lebanon in a spiral of violence.”
