Janones confesses crack and promises to return R $ 131 thousand to the House of Representatives
Federal Deputy André Janones (Avante-MG) signed an agreement with the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and pledged to return R $ 131,500 to end the investigation into the cracked suspicions in his office.
The Agreement of Criminal Persecution (ANPP) provides that the amount will be destined to the House of Representatives. Janones will also pay a fine of R $ 26,300, corresponding to 20% of the loss it caused to the purse.
The deputy acknowledged that, in early 2019, “due to the fact that he was named after SPC and Serasa”, he resorted to one of his parliamentary advisors – Mário Celestino da Silva Junior – and asked for a credit card to pay for personal expenses.

“This card was used by the commitment to pay personal expenses during 2019 and 2020. The respective invoices were paid by the advisor, without discharge, by the commitment, so far,” admitted the deputy in the agreement.
The Federal Police (PF) presented the final report of the investigation in September 2024 and indicted the deputy for corruption crimes, criminal association and embezzlement. With the signing of the agreement, PGR failed to submit a complaint.
The Federal Police stated in the final report of the investigation that the crack scheme began at the beginning of Janones’ mandate in the House of Representatives in 2019. Based on the breach of fiscal confidentiality, the investigators pointed to a suspicious heritage variation. The PF also identified the use of the advisor’s credit cards to pay the deputy’s personal expenses.
Janones was dragged to the corruption suspicion center after they came to audios in which he asks for donations from advisers to compensate for campaign spending. He recognized the authenticity of the recording, confirmed by PF experts.
The advisers were heard by the Federal Police. They said the recording is out of context and denied the return of salaries, but the PF saw “inconsistencies” and “contradictions” in the testimonies.
