Landslide leaves 21 dead and 30 missing in Kenya

BySimon Rousseau Posted onNovember 2, 2025 1:31 pmNovember 2, 2025 1:31 pm
Pelo menos 21 pessoas morreram e mais de 30 foram declaradas desaparecidas após um deslizamento de terra no Quênia

In addition to the 21 dead and more than 30 missing, Murkomen reported 25 seriously injured, who were airlifted to the city of Eldoret in western Kenya.

The Red Cross released aerial images of the region showing large landslides and said it was coordinating rescue work with the government.

“Access to some affected areas continues to be extremely difficult due to flooding and broken roads,” the Kenya branch of the Red Cross said on X.

Last year, the rainy season, worsened by the El Niño meteorological phenomenon, had lethal consequences in East Africa, including Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Uganda.
