Lucky ChatGPT? American uses AI to match lottery numbers
She hit four white balls and the Powerball. The numbers chosen were: 11, 23, 44, 61, 62 and Powerball 17. The initial prize was US$50,000 (around R$270,000), but it was doubled because of the Power Play option, which multiplies values.
I asked ChatGPT for a set of Powerball numbers and these were the numbers I played on my ticket.
Tammy Carvey at Michigan Lottery Connect
The player stated that she usually only participates when the main prize exceeds US$1 billion, and that she was shocked when she realized she had won: “My husband and I were in total disbelief.”
Tammy checked the results online and thought she had won “only” US$50,000, but when logging into his Michigan Lottery account he noticed the additional Power Play — an option that doubled the value to US$100,000 (R$540,000).
She has already visited the Lottery headquarters to collect the prize and has plans for the amount. According to Michigan Lottery Connect, Carvey said he plans to pay off the house and save the rest of the money.
Make no mistake: AI does not predict numbers
Despite the coincidence, the Michigan Lottery itself reinforced that the results are completely random. This means they cannot be predicted by artificial intelligence or any number generating tool.
