Lula again signals that he should run for re-election if he is ‘in good health’

The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, signaled again this Tuesday, 4th, that he should run for re-election in 2026 if he is “in good health”.

“If it’s up to me, no one who is extremely direct, a denialist, will govern this country”, he reinforced in an interview with international agencies in Belém (PA), where COP30 will be held this month.

“My effort is for democracy to win, and we have to make the people understand the difference between democracy and authoritarianism,” stated the president.

Lula also commented on the meeting with US President Donald Trump, who said the two had “chemistry”.

“That story where Trump joked about chemistry, I’ve been saying all my life that my relationship with human beings is chemical,” he commented. “It’s like that with me, I like people for looking at people.”

And the President of the Republic concluded: “I don’t see why I can’t get along with Trump. I told him, the relationship between two heads of state is not ideological.”
