Lula appeals to Congress so that “political differences” do not affect the Anti-Faction Project

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated, in a post on his social networks, that political differences “cannot be a pretext for us to stop moving forward” in the fight against criminal factions. Lula said he trusts “in the commitment of parliamentarians for the rapid processing and approval” of the anti-faction package, which he sent to Congress this Friday afternoon.

The project increases sentences for members of criminal factions to up to 30 years and creates mechanisms that increase the power of the State and police forces to investigate and financially stifle factions.

“The factions will only be defeated with the joint effort of all spheres of power. Political differences cannot be a pretext for us to stop moving forward. Therefore, I trust in the commitment of parliamentarians for the rapid processing and approval of our projects. Brazilian families deserve this dedication”, said Lula.

According to Lula, the package “guarantees instruments that shield public bodies from the actions of members of this type of criminal organizations”. The president also cited the Public Security PEC, sent to Congress in April and which, according to him, provides for “integrated actions between federal, state and municipal bodies in the fight against criminals”. The projects are the main banners of the administration of the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski.
