Lula discusses tariffs with Alckmin, Haddad, Gleisi, Fávaro, Sidonius and Jaques Wagner

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva met with ministers on Sunday (13) at the Dawn Palace to discuss the government’s reaction to the US President’s warning, Donald Trump, that he will tax Brazilian products at 50% from August 1.

Earlier, the vice president and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, said in São Paulo that the regulation of the so-called reciprocity law should be published in decree by Tuesday (15). The legislation, approved by the National Congress, authorizes Brazil to adopt tariff and non -tariff measures against countries that impose barriers to Brazilian exports.

In addition to Alckmin, Ministers Fernando Haddad (Fazenda), Gleisi Hoffmann (Secretariat of Institutional Relations), Carlos Fávaro (agriculture and livestock) and Sidônio Palmeira (Secretariat of Social Communication), as well as Senate government leader Jaques Wagner (PT-BA)
