Lula government approval rises to 42% and disapproval retreats to 53%, he says powerdate

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s government assessment (PT) presented improvement in July, according to a powerful survey released on Wednesday (30). The survey, conducted from July 26 to 28, shows that 42% of respondents approve of management, compared to 39% in May. The disapproval fell from 56% to 53% in the same period. The difference between negative and positive indices fell from 17 to 11 percentage points.

It is the first time in about a year that the numbers fluctuate favorably to the government. The research points out that the movement was driven by the repercussion of tariffs announced by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, about Brazilian products.

“I want to be treated with respect,” Lula tells Trump to NYT

President states that he will not accept external interference, that if Bolsonaro “is not in negotiation”, and that recognizes the economic and military power of the US, “but that does not make us afraid, makes us worried”

Lula would be willing to dialogue, but Trump does not make room, they say interlocutors

Climate in the plateau is of pessimism. The bet of the interlocutors is that the White House should only open the dialogue after the start of charging the tariffs

The Lula government has explored the episode with a speech of “national sovereignty,” which, according to analysts heard by the powerfulness, may have contributed to the improvement in popular perception.

The tariff was justified by Trump as a response to the treatment given by the Brazilian judiciary to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and alleged discrepancies in the commercial relationship between the two countries.

The survey listened to 2,500 people in 182 municipalities in the 27 Federation units. The margin of error is two percentage points, with a confidence interval of 95%. The interviews were done by telephone, with a proportional sample of gender, age, income, education and geographical location.
