Lula government spends more than R$1.4 billion on corporate cards by 2025, says website

Spending on the Lula government’s corporate card throughout the current term exceeds R$1.4 billion reais, according to Veja. In 2025, it was R$423 million.

Among the biggest purchases are construction materials and payment companies, in addition to iFood.

According to the publication, the Presidency of the Republic alone was responsible for R$55 million in spending last year. The specific expenses, however, are confidential, according to the TCU process.

For comparison, in 2024, the Presidency’s corporate card represented a total of R$584 million in expenses. In 2023, the value was R$430 million. The total amount, until the end of 2025, reaches R$1.4 billion.

Lula has been in India since Wednesday, the 18th, and will remain in the country until this Saturday, the 21st. The Artificial Intelligence Impact Summit takes place in New Delhi and brings together world leaders such as the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, and António Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, as well as businesspeople from the sector such as Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google.

Throughout the day, the Brazilian president will participate in a meeting with Indian investors and a dinner hosted by Modi. On Sunday, the 22nd, Lula leaves for South Korea, where he is expected to sign a three-year action plan to strengthen relations between the countries.
