Lula holds a meeting with ministers to discuss the processing of the fiscal package

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is currently meeting with the ministers of Finance, Fernando Haddad, of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, and of the Civil House, Rui Costa, in addition to government leaders in Congress at Palácio do Planalto. The government’s expectation is that the projects containing cost containment measures will be approved later this year. So far, two proposals have already been filed in Congress: the complementary bill that brings the new triggers of the fiscal framework and also authorizes the contingency and blocking of parliamentary amendments and the PL that limits the real growth of the minimum wage to the maximum allowed by the framework tax, 2.5% per year.

The proposed Constitutional Amendment (PEC) will be forwarded to the Legislature today. The PEC brings points such as changes in the salary bonus, in the Fund for Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and Valorization of Education Professionals (Fundeb), extension of the Untying of Union Revenues (DRU), authorization for budget adjustment in subsidies and grants and variation of resources from the Constitutional Fund of the Federal District (FCDF) to the IPCA.
