Lula: in 2025 we will have lower unemployment with an increase in income for the population

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva highlighted this Saturday, 31st, via post on social media, that the year 2025 ended with the lowest unemployment rate in the historical series, combined with the increase in the population’s income. “We start 2026 with another real increase in the minimum wage and zero income tax for those who earn up to R$5,000”, he stated in the publication made this morning.

Data from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Pnad Contínua), released yesterday, indicate that the unemployment rate in Brazil fell to 5.1% in the quarter ending in December 2025. This is the lowest level in the historical series started in 2012. The average real usual income of workers, estimated at R$3,560 last year, increased by 5.7% compared to 2024.

The result shows that around 5.5 million people looked for work in the last three months of 2025, when the job market reached a record 103 million employed people. Growth occurred both in formal employment and among self-employed workers.
