Flávio Bolsonaro bets on a religious agenda in Israel to strengthen his pre-candidacy

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), pre-candidate for the Presidency, called President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) an anti-Semite this Tuesday, 27th and classified the actions of the United States as a “new model of international cooperation”.

“Lula is anti-Semitic. This is not a slogan, it is not an exaggeration. It is based on his ideas, his advisors, his words and his actions”, declared Flávio during the “Annual Conference to Combat Anti-Semitism”, in Israel.

The Brazilian parliamentarian stated that, in recent episodes, Lula stopped condemning Hamas to attack Israel and that Brazil is part of the group of countries that support terrorism. He also cited Celso Amorim, chief advisor of the president’s Special Advisory: “The person primarily responsible for Lula’s international policy, his greatest advisor, Celso Amorim, wrote the preface to a book that applauds Hamas and presents it as a normal political group.”

Flávio, who presented himself “not just as a senator, but as a candidate for President”, said that he will align himself with Israel if he is elected president: “Israel is on the front line of democracy against barbarism. Let me say this clearly, Brazil must be with Israel, with the Jews, with the democracies that fight against terror.”

In a hint towards Lula, the senator stated that “the next Brazilian president will not be persona non grata in Israel” and that the two countries “share a long and honorable history”, with “shared values”, such as freedom, democracy and respect for life.

“Brazil joined Israel in the fight against terrorism, without excuses and without double standards. Unfortunately, this legacy has been broken. Today, anti-Semitism is not a minor problem, it is not just part of the past, it is real and a global threat”, he said.

Waves to the USA and Milei

Flávio defended the action of the United States and Argentine president, Javier Milei, in international politics. According to him, the United States “helped to build a new model of international cooperation”. He also stated that, if he is elected president, he will follow the same line of agreements as Milei.

“The agreements led by the great Argentine president, Javier Milei, are a historic step. They strengthened the diplomatic, economic and institutional links between Israel and Latin American democracies. And let me say this clearly: if it depends on me, Brazil will officially sign the agreements in January 2027”, he declared.
