Lupi defends himself and denies omission in billionaire fraud at the INSS

After the Federal Police launched the operation without discount, last Wednesday (23), to investigate a scheme that would have caused a loss of R $ 6.3 billion in associative discounts not authorized by retirees and pensioners of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), the Minister of Social Security Carlos Lupi denied that he omitted by receiving the fraud alerts.
In an interview with Estadão Content, this Sunday (27), the minister said he determined a investigation on the subject, which was completed on September 6, 2024. “I did not omit, I tried to act,” said Lupi, after the disclosure of information that he was warned in 2023.
Counselor Tonia Galleti, of the National Council of Social Security, would have said, according to the minutes of the meeting, that he had requested the inclusion of the discussion of entities supervision. However, Lupi would have rejected the request for not being on the agenda. At the same meeting, the counselor reinforced the request, but the minister decided that, although relevant, “there was no condition to do so immediately, as it would be necessary to make a more accurate survey.”
Lupi also said that he would have asked the director of benefits and relationship with the citizen, André Paulo Felix Fidelis, but that he talked about “the difficulties of analyzing and correcting possible fraud in about 6 million members.
