Maduro’s party conquers the absolute majority of chairs in elections in Venezuela
The current president of the National Assembly and Chavismo’s head of campaign, Jorge Rodrígez, said on Monday that the PSUV won 256 seats.
The election is still missing, this weekend, of three deputies representing indigenous peoples. It is unclear if Rodríguez considered them elected and included them in their balance.
The PSUV and allied parties have obtained most seats with just over five million votes, according to the CNE.
The opposition led by María Corina Machado summoned to abstention in protest to the questioned reelection of President Nicolás Maduro, which she claims to have been fraudulent.
An opposition wing that disadvantaged the boycott order won 11 seats with about 300,000 votes. The wing was headed by Henrique Capriles, who also got a deputy post.
Other parties out of chavismo, but tacked as collaborationists of the traditional opposition, totaled 18 seats.
