Majority believes that Bolsonaro's arrest occurred due to his own actions, says survey

The arrest of former president Jair Bolsonaro occurred due to his own actions and those of his family, in the opinion of 52% of respondents to a survey carried out by Genial/Quaest, released today, January 1st.

As for the reason that most contributed to Bolsonaro’s arrest, 32% said it was because of the damage to the electronic ankle bracelet and 16% considered it a risk of flight abroad, while 4% thought it was the vigil. Another 21% consider that the reason that most contributed to the arrest would be political persecution by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) or Minister Alexandre de Moraes. Of the remaining respondents, 5% gave other reasons and 22% did not know or did not respond.

Among those interviewed, 89% declared that they were aware that the former president is being held in a cell at the Federal Police, in Brasília (DF). The survey also showed that 51% of respondents believe he deserves to be arrested, while 42% see political persecution. Another 7% did not know or did not respond.

Regarding Bolsonaro’s condition after prison, 56% believe he becomes weaker, while 36% believe he becomes stronger. Those who did not know and did not respond total 8%.
