An Indian Air Force veteran caught the attention of residents of the village of Konchi, in the state of Bihar, by staging his own funeral while he was still alive. The objective, according to him, was to find out who would attend the ceremony and how much affection they would receive after death.

What happened

The protagonist is Mohan Lal, 74 years old, resident of Gaya district. He asked friends to place him on a decorated stretcher, covered by a white sheet, and take him to the village’s crematorium, all complete with emotional music and funeral chants.

News spread quickly and hundreds of residents participated in the procession, believing that the former soldier had died. According to NDTV, when the procession reached the cremation ground, Lal stood up in front of the crowd, leaving everyone in shock.
