MDB will include Michel Temer in research for President in the 2026 elections
The MDB intends to test the name of former president Michel Temer, 85, as a possible candidate for Palácio do Planalto in the 2026 presidential elections. The idea is to include Temer in the party’s next round of internal polls to measure his electoral potential. The information was published by Folha de S.Paulo and confirmed by Estadão.
The movement occurs despite the president of the MDB, federal deputy Baleia Rossi (SP), having stated, in an interview with Estadãothat the party tends to adopt a position of neutrality if the presidential dispute heads towards a polarization scenario again.
Today, the main research institutes indicate that the best positioned in the race are President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is expected to run for a fourth term, and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), heir to the political estate of his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, imprisoned in the Papuda complex after being convicted of an attempted coup.
Opportunity with security!
While the party is testing scenarios for 2026 at the national level, one of its main names in the last presidential election, Planning Minister Simone Tebet (MDB), stated this Friday (30) that she will leave the government by March to contest the elections.
Listed for the government of São Paulo, Tebet said that she discussed with Lula only a candidacy for the Senate and that the definition of which position she will run for must occur before Carnival. The former presidential candidate also stated that she made herself available to the PT member to run in any position. “I placed my political destiny in President Lula’s hands,” he declared.
