Minister says that cancellation of Enem questions aims at ‘smoothness and equality’ of the test
The Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, stated this Tuesday, 18th, that three questions from the National High School Exam (Enem) were annulled by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (Inep) to “guarantee the fairness and equality of the test”. The body canceled the questions after identifying that they would be “similar” to questions published on social networks in the days before the exam.
“I determined to the technical team that is responsible for the test. They assessed that there was a need to cancel three items. So it was these three items that were canceled. Determined by the technical issue of canceling to guarantee fairness and equality of the test”, said Camilo in an interview with TV Verdes Maresa Globo affiliate in Ceará.

Candidates who took the Enem started to report a suspected leak in the test because professor Edcley S. Teixeira, from Ceará, had “predicted” questions asked last Sunday, the 16th. In his publications on social media, Teixeira shows the similarity between the questions and gives explanations for his study method to anticipate the content of the test, which he calls “reverse engineering”. When contacted by Estadão, Teixeira did not respond.
According to minister Camilo Santana, he called Inep’s technical team after the “noise on social media”. The institute then decided to cancel the questions due to the “proximities that were posted on social media”, he explained.
In one of his publications, Edcley Teixeira stated that he had participated in an MEC assessment for medical freshmen, called the Capes University Talent Award. According to him, the questions were similar to the Enem standard. Because of this, he would have memorized some questions and, with the help of other friends who also took the test, created questions for his students to study. The young man is a Medicine student and sells tutoring packages for Enem candidates.
As Estadão showed, the test carried out by Capes, mentioned by Teixeira, actually uses some questions to carry out a kind of Enem pre-test. This is information that should be confidential, which the MEC does not officially confirm.
“This pre-test was prepared by Inep in previous years, with items that may or may not be included in the test, which is to guarantee the quality of the item that is applied in Enem”, explained the Minister of Education.
Inep asked the Federal Police to investigate the conduct and authorship of the live broadcast on social media that publicized issues similar to those of Enem. The institute also requested that those involved be held responsible for any breach of confidentiality or acts of bad faith resulting in the undue disclosure of confidential matters.
“We contacted the Federal Police because the people who do this pre-test have confidentiality issues. So, we called the Federal Police to take all appropriate and legal measures in relation to this”, concluded Santana.
