Moraes again denies Bolsonaro’s request for a visit from deputy Gustavo Gayer

Moraes again denies Bolsonaro's request for a visit from deputy Gustavo Gayer

Federal Supreme Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes denied, for the second time, the request of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who is under house arrest, to receive a visit from federal deputy Gustavo Gayer (PL-GO).

A similar request had already been made on August 8, but was refused. At the time, Moraes stated that Gayer is being investigated in an investigation related to the criminal action of the coup plot and, therefore, the authorization would violate the precautionary measure imposed on July 17, which prohibits Bolsonaro from maintaining contact with defendants or those being investigated in related processes.

In the new decision, the justification was maintained. “In view of the precautionary measure imposed on the custodian Jair Messias Bolsonaro by the decision of 7/17/2025, consisting of a prohibition on communicating with defendants or those being investigated in criminal actions, or related investigations, including through third parties, I deny the visit authorization for Gustavo Gayer Machado de Araújo, as he is being investigated in PET 12.042/DF”, wrote Moraes.

On the same occasion, the minister authorized visits by deputies Altineu Côrtes (PL-RJ) and Alberto Fraga (PL-DF), on the 3rd and 4th of November; by former Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet, on November 5; and journalist Alexandre Paulovich Pittoli, on November 6th.

Bolsonaro has been under house arrest for almost three months. The measure was decreed by Moraes on August 4, after non-compliance with precautionary measures imposed as part of the investigation investigating the role of the former president and deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) in actions against national sovereignty.
