Moraes asks the PGR to analyze Bolsonaro’s request for release for Trump’s inauguration
This Tuesday, the 14th, the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes sent to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) the information presented by the defense of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) regarding the invitation for the inauguration of the President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump. The PGR will analyze the case and issue an opinion, and the final decision will be made by the minister.
Bolsonaro is awaiting a decision on the release of travel to attend the event, which is scheduled for Monday, 20th. The former president has had his passport withheld since February 8, 2024, when he was targeted by the Federal Police’s Operation Tempus Veritatis. on suspicion of involvement in a coup plot after the 2022 elections.
Bolsonaro’s request includes the release of his passport and was accompanied by documents that, according to his lawyers, prove the official invitation to take office. Moraes had requested more details, claiming that the email initially presented lacked information about time and programming.

The defense claims that the invitation was sent to Eduardo Bolsonaro on January 8th via the official domain “t47inaugural.com”, registered exclusively for inauguration events. “At inaugural events in the United States, it is common practice to adopt specific domains for formal communications,” argued the lawyers.
The lawyers also attached images of the invitation and highlighted statements on the inaugural committee’s official website. According to the defense, these documents reinforce the authenticity of the invitation and its relevance.
According to the defense, the event organized by the committee of Trump and JD Vance, who will take over as president and vice president, will begin on Saturday, the 18th, and will last until the 21st. The inauguration is scheduled for Monday, the 20th.
