Moraes authorizes Heleno’s defense to use slides in support in the trial
Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes authorized on Sunday, 31, the defense of former Minister Augusto Heleno to present slides and other audiovisual resources during his oral support at the trial of the coup plot next Tuesday, 2.
The former minister’s lawyer, Matheus Milanez, needs to send the material until 3 pm on Monday, 1, so that the secretary of the first class verifies the technical adjustments necessary for the presentation.

The rite of the trial is provided for in the Supreme Court’s Rules of Procedure. First, Moraes will read a summary of the investigations. Then, the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, will reinforce what he wrote in the process and again request the conviction of all eight defendants. He will have two hours to do this.
Then the defendants’ lawyers will make oral support. Each defendant will be entitled to an hour of defense. The first to speak will be that of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, who signed an award-winning agreement. The other lawyers will be called in alphabetical order of the names of the defendants. Bolsonaro’s defense will be Friday to speak.
The defendants are part of the so -called crucial core of the coup plot. They respond to five crimes: armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law, coup, damage qualified by violence and serious threat and, finally, deterioration of listed assets.
The exception is the former director of Abin Alexandre Ramagem, who is responsible for only the first three crimes.

After lawyers speak, the vote is passed, with Moraes first. It is expected to condemn the group and be followed by most colleagues. In theory, any of the ministers may ask for a view, but it is unlikely to happen. The deadline for the return of the process in these cases is up to 90 days.
In case of conviction, the arrest should not be immediate. The usual in the Supreme Court is that the defendants resort in freedom. The penalty only begins to be served after the final judgment – that is, when all appeals are analyzed.
