Moraes authorizes Walter Delgatti’s progression to open regime

The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes authorized the progression of hacker Walter Delgatti Netto’s regime, who will now go to the open regime. According to this Thursday’s decision, he must wear an electronic ankle bracelet.

The hacker was sentenced to an eight-year prison sentence for invading the systems of the National Justice Council (CNJ), together with former deputy Carla Zambelli. Arrested in Italy, the Bolsonarist was arrested last year and is awaiting extradition.

In January, Moraes had already authorized Delgatti’s progression to semi-open. When accepting the move to the open regime, the minister stated that he had already completed the necessary time for the change to be possible as determined by legislation. He also demonstrated “great behavior.”

Delgatti must meet a series of conditions, such as the use of an electronic ankle bracelet, with the obligation to be at home between 7pm and 6am, on weekdays. On weekends, he must not leave the residence. The hacker must also demonstrate that he performs a job and is prevented from leaving the region where he lives. Delgatti’s passport will remain cancelled, and he is banned from using social media.

Convicted of participating in the invasion of CNJ systems, former deputy Carla Zambelli appealed this week against the second decision of the Italian court that authorized her extradition to Brazil. The so-called Italian Court of Cassation is expected to judge the appeal on May 22.
