Moraes orders expertise on Bolsonaro’s health after request for surgery
The minister of the Federal Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, ordered this Thursday (11) that an examination be carried out on the health status of former president Jair Bolsonaro to assess the immediate need for surgery.
The decision comes after the former president’s defense asked the STF for authorization for Bolsonaro to undergo surgery at the hospital. In the determination, Moraes highlighted that the former president, detained at the PF Superintendency since November 22, has full-time medical care and there were no reports of an emergency situation.
In a medical report submitted to the Supreme Court, the defense states that the former president has been complaining of pain and discomfort in the inguinal region, a condition supposedly worsened by hiccups.

In the same request, the former president’s lawyers also ask that Moraes reconsider humanitarian house arrest due to the clinical picture presented. Jair Bolsonaro has served 27 years and three months in a closed regime since November 25, when his preventive detention was converted.
Previously, the former president served his preventative sentence under house arrest, wearing an ankle bracelet. The decision was revoked on November 22 after Bolsonaro violated the equipment and presented a flight risk.
