Moraes says the meeting with Galípolo was to discuss the Magnitsky Law and does not mention Master
Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), released a note this Tuesday, 23, to clarify that his meetings with the president of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo, took place due to the application of the Magnitsky Law on the magistrate by the United States government.
Moraes’ statements come after the publication of information that he allegedly pressured Galípolo and the monetary authority to approve a solution for Banco Master, which ended up being liquidated by the BC on November 18.
Senator says he will collect signatures to investigate Moraes’ relationship with Master
Minister Alexandre de Moraes’ wife had a contract with the bank
The note from the STF minister does not mention the Master case.
Information about the conversation between Moraes and Galípolo was published by columnist Malu Gaspar, from the newspaper The Globe.
The president of the Central Bank has not yet commented on the matter.
Moraes also informs that, in the same context as Magnitsky, he spoke with the president of Banco do Brasil, Tarciana Medeiros, as well as the president of the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban), Isaac Sidney, the president of BTG, Roberto Sallouti, as well as vice-presidents of Bradesco and Itaú.
“In all meetings, specific issues were exclusively discussed about the serious consequences of the application of the aforementioned law, in particular the possibility of maintaining bank transactions, current accounts, credit and debit cards”, added Moraes.
