MORAES SUSPENDS USE OF ANDELER BY SENATOR MARCOS DO VAL

Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) determined on Friday (29) the withdrawal of the electronic anklet responsible for monitoring Senator Marcos do Val (Somos). The measure was determined after the minister accepted a Senate appeal for the equipment to be withdrawn.

Earlier this month, Moraes ordered the senator to be monitored by anklet and also had the parliamentary’s bank accounts block.

Monitoring was determined after the parliamentarian travels to the United States without authorization from the Supreme.

Last year, a court decision ordered the senator’s suspension of passports. However, on July 23, Marcos do Val embarked to Miami with a diplomatic passport, which was not delivered by him to the Federal Police (PF).

Before leaving the country, the senator asked Alexandre de Moraes to have been authorized to travel, but the request was denied.

In the decision, Moraes also revoked other precautionary measures determined against the parliamentarian, such as blockade of bank accounts and pix keys, prohibition of use of social networks, home collection and suspension of senator’s salary.

The prohibition of leaving the country without authorization and seizure of passports were maintained.

Revocation

The revocation of the prohibitions was determined after a behind -the -scenes agreement between the Supreme and Senate. With the removal of the measures, Marcos do Val asked for the mandate permission.

The license request was quoted by Moraes in the decision. “The petition presented by the law of the Federal Senate was accompanied by a copy of the license request that Marcos do Val referred to the president of the Federal Senate, emphasizing the temporary disability to exercise the mandate of Senator of the Republic and expressing his respect to the Democratic Rule of Law and democratic institutions,” says the decision.

The senator is investigated by the Supreme Court for the alleged campaign of social media attacks against Federal Police delegates who were responsible for investigations involving supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
