MP releases credit of R$6.5 billion to recover areas affected by climate events
The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) published this Tuesday (24) a Provisional Measure (MP) that releases R$6.5 billion in extraordinary credit for the Ministry of Cities to enable the recovery of infrastructure in areas affected by extreme weather events.
According to Palácio do Planalto, the act complements the initiative foreseen in the MP published at the beginning of December, which authorized the Union to participate in a private fund administered by Caixa Econômica Federal for the recovery of areas affected by disasters.
“These are resources destined specifically for Rio Grande do Sul, which was hit by floods between April and May this year”, says Planalto, in a note.

The text provides for the production, import, export, registration, commercialization, use, inspection and supervision of bioinputs
According to the federal government, the fund is intended to help with the recovery of structures such as roads, bridges and public buildings, but will also be used to finance projects to prevent and adapt to climate change.
Amazon and Pantanal
Lula also signed another MP to grant R$233 million in extraordinary credit to help the population affected by the fires and drought in the Amazon and Pantanal.
According to legislation, extraordinary credits can be released to cover unpredictable and urgent expenses, and are not computed for the purpose of complying with tax rules.
