Musk has a $ 132 billion gap: Why do billionaires lose with Trump?
They were all happy at the inauguration ceremony of US President Donald Trump in January. But since then, six of the ten largest billionaires in the world have lost $ 225.3 billion together. This according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index survey, which monitors the fortune of the 500 richest people in the world.
Only Elon Musk saw more than half of this evaporate. He was $ 132 billion less rich from January 1st to March 10th. The fortune of the president of the Tesla electric car manufacturer – and currently head of the US Government Efficiency Department (Doge) – had hit the peak in mid -December last year, reaching $ 486 billion. It is now $ 301 billion.
What is happening?
Among several factors, one is common to almost all: the import tariffs that Trump is imposing harms the companies of these mega rich.
