Northeast states lead the US export loss in August
The Northeast states were the ones that had the most export losses to the US in August, the first month in force of President Donald Trump’s tariff.
Commercial balance data released on Thursday by the MDIC (Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services) show that 21 of 27 states (added the Federal District) Brazilians exported less to the US in August before July, in percentage terms.
Of the six states with the highest proportional sales losses, five are from the Northeast and one is from the North, which even leads the casualties: this is the Acre, the only one in the country that did not export to the US country last month. In July, he had sold only wood, charcoal and wooden works, products from the same sector.
